"We Ain't All From Nashville" - The Story Behind the Song
WE AIN’T ALL FROM NASHVILLE
This song is about a Northerner who loves playing and writing country music so he decides to try to make it in Nashville.
I thought I’d try my hand at writing a country music song. Not gonna lie, it’s not my favorite genre, in fact its at the bottom of the list, but people like it so why not. There is one good thing about it however, the lyrics in most country songs are pretty simple so I won’t have to labor over explaining any hidden meanings.
If you a diehard country fan I apologize but you won’t find “beer”, “Jesus” or “pickup truck” in this song. It’s a story of a young artist trying to find his way in a new town. He knows he’s a needle in the haystack but he doesn’t care because he’s following his dream.
Song Art and Lyrics Below:

We Ain’t All From Nashville
Closed out the bar on a Saturday night
Left the beach in Jersey for the Nashville lights
Got me a room with the money I made myself
Everyone here sings better than me
But I got a gig where the drinks are free
Does that make me the same as everyone else.
(Chorus)
Nashville - We all ain’t from Nashville
I came down to get rid of our fear
And play some song for y’all to hear
Nashville
We ain’t all from here
I play my songs to the crowd at the bar.
They know I’m a Yankee in this hole in the wall
I say hey how you guys doin so far?
No one answers so I play more tunes
They all clap but it feels to soon
I say how you doin and I name the bar
(Chorus)
This big old boy comes walking to me.
Now I’m a big man so I waited to see
will my big mouth get me in trouble again.
He says "you guys” it ‘ll never work
Down here we say “Y’all with a big o’ll smirked
If you want’m to hear ya- say it to them
(Chorus)
