THAT THING YOU DO 

Some insight on how I write lyrics. (Not that you asked) The music comes first. A finished song or a verse of a song, Then the lyrics. 

I always write the first line of the first verse first, and build a story based on that by asking: Who would say something like that or why would this happen. After hearing that line over the music I decide whether to write fiction or non-fiction. This song is all fiction. 

A story about a lustful one night stand. 

He meets someone in the club. Attracted only by her appearance. He has so many questions that he doesn’t ask. Where is she from? What does she do for work? Why would she dance with him? What is your name? But he doesn’t ask any of them because there’s only one thing on his mind. 

BAM! HE HOOKS UP! 

He’s so overwhelmed with the experience that all sensible thought is out the window. 

He’s willing to get married on the spot!!!Why? Because he’s in love? No. Because he likes her personality? No. Because he can’t get her face out of his head? No. 

Because he loved that thing she did…
