"Monster" - The Story Behind the Song
MONSTER
I struggle with the title of this song sometimes. I’m not entirely sure the word Monster is enough to describe the meaning of these lyrics.
Or. Maybe the word Monster is too strong. This song is about people (monsters) who misunderstand the severity of anxiety because instead of educating themselves about it they compare it to their own lives.
The verses in this song are about denial and solely based on miss information or no information. They are knee-jerk, ignorant statements that are said in an attempt to solve a problem that the person making the statement doesn’t understand.
The chorus is just an angrier, equally ignorant continuation of the message of the verses. The last line of chorus and the out chorus is so ironic that it pains me sometimes to sing it- “You have to stop blaming everybody else”
Which is basically blaming someone for blaming someone.
Song Art and Lyrics Below:

MONSTER
Where are these monsters under your bed
Are they just creatures that live in your head
Where were your parents you were mislead
Just ask your imaginary friends
Shut out the noise who cares what they say
How do you make it through single day
Why do you fill your world with decay
You should stay out your head
You call it anxiety why do you lie to me
You made the team that should be your trophy
Where’s your confidence
There’s no time for this
You have to stop blaming everybody else
When will you realize that they doesn’t exist
All the fears you always relive
Time to change your entire play list
Live your life with out the sadness
You call it anxiety why do you lie to me
You made the team and that should be your trophy
Where’s your confidence
There’s no time for this
You have to stop blaming everybody else
Where are these monsters under your bed
Are they just creatures that live in your head
You call it anxiety why do you lie to me
You made the team and that should be your trophy
Where’s your confidence
There’s no time for this
You have to stop blaming everybody else
You’re blaming everybody else
Stop blaming everybody else
You just blaming everybody else
Stop blaming everybody else
